John Ernst Jr. began shooting skeet in 1946 on the recommendation of his good friend Ed Scherer.  Shooting low gun he captured his first State Title in 1956.  He won six State Titles in total.  In 1957, Mr. Ernst along with Matchette, Durant, Durant, and Schlegel, won the Five Man Team Event at the State Shoot.  He has several Great Western titles and was State HOA runner-up twice.  John was a F-94 pilot and after the war would fly with Ed Scherer to some shoots.  John now resides in Wisconsin and enjoys playing golf.
